Requests to complete testing faster than planned in order to meet a project deadline are increasingly common. Shortening testing to meet a mandated schedule can threaten the integrity of testing results and conclusions. This session describes boundaries that testing team leads and managers need to establish in order to ensure that their certification results are accurate, meaningful and valuable to the project and its stakeholders. It addresses approaches for resisting pressures to give in to demands that negate the value of testing, and provides guidelines for negotiating solutions that are acceptable to all parties. These include the need for proactive replanning as project scope, knowledge and circumstances change, and identifying the best people for preparing and executing testing based on application requirements, required testing deliverables and test results. The session includes the opportunity to ask the group how to resolve personal testing challenges.
