The Cloud’s Impact on Testing

Cloud computing, now almost ten years old, continues to grow at a rapid pace, and it seems that everything is moving to the cloud. Cloud services are replacing what used to be done on desktops, in labs, and data centers. What is the impact of the cloud on testing? Can the cloud make testing better? The cloud enables building solutions that scale larger and faster than before where adding capacity in data centers took weeks to months. Now applications can be deployed to cloud servers in not hours but minutes. As the cloud enables increases in app deliveries, it also enables new services that increase testing efficiency and quality while decreasing total testing time. Tom will discuss the migration of applications to the cloud and the new tools and services that enable testing to be just as agile as the new development processes. He will also address some of the concerns companies have with cloud computing such as security, reproducibility, and repeatability.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn how moving to the cloud benefits not only development but testing too
  • Discover cloud services to improve testing quality and efficiency
  • Plan to transition testing to cloud-based services
