Polyskilling Testers: Good, Bad or Ugly?

Agile demands much more of the tester. Testers are now asked to be much more technical. They have to test database changes, web services, and integration with other systems. On top of that testers have to automate our test scripts as fast as they are being written. But is this change a good thing? Are testers becoming better testers? Are products becoming “better” or “more solid”? In this session Mr. Eakin will examine polyskilling and the Dunning-Kruger Effect from a testing point of view and try to explain how it can destroy teams if applied incorrectly and make them stronger if applied correctly.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about polyskilling
  • What is the Dunning-Kruger Effect
  • Apply polyskilling to strengthen your team
